How to get to campus Thalèsaccess map (PDF)
By public transportation from Charles de Gaulle airport, Orly airport or ParisThe campus where Université Thalès is located is accessible from the RER C railway stations Jouy-en-Josas (at 700 meters) or Petit Jouy (at 900 meters). On the interactive map of Jouy-en-Josas, it is on the left in the middle. From Roissy - Charles de Gaulle airportThe simplest way is to take the RER B line (two stations serve the airport) going to Massy-Palaiseau, then the RER C line to Jouy-en-Josas. A ticket from the airport to Jouy-en-Josas via Massy-Palaiseau costs 11.25 euros. The duration of the full trip from the airport RER stations to Université Thalès is about 100 minutes. From the terminals to the RER stations From terminal 2, follow the signs and walk to the combined RER and TGV railway station located between the terminal 2C, 2D, 2E and 2F (from terminal 2A, first walk throught terminal 2C and from terminal 2B, first walk through terminal 2D, or take the green shuttle numbered 3). The RER station is called Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2.From the airport RER stations to Massy-Palaiseau RER station Take any train heading to Massy-Palaiseau, Orsay or Saint-Rémy lès Chevreuse. If you ever take a train to Robinson, stop in Paris center (e.g. Gare du Nord or Châtelet - Les Halles) and wait for the next train on the same platform serving Massy-Palaiseau.From Massy-Palaiseau RER B station to Jouy-en-Josas RER C station The RER C platforms are located at the opposite side of the RER B in Massy-Palaiseau station (you have to walk a 200m pedestrian bridge starting upstairs on the right at the head of the RER B platforms). There, take a train to Versailles Chantiers (first platform downstairs on the left) and stop at Jouy-en-Josas. In the morning rush hour and between 17:00 and 19:15, it runs every quarter at 3, 18, 33 and 48 minutes after the clock. Then it runs at 19:18, 19:48, 20:18, 20:48, 21:18, 22:18 and finally 23:18. It takes 15 minutes from Massy to Jouy. From Jouy-en-Josas RER C station to the campus of Université Thalès Go out of the station avenue Jean Jaurès on the left. Walk along the car park until the roundabout. Take the rue de la Libération on the right and immediately after take a small lane called chemin du Pré Bourgeois on the left. Follow the sign sentier de la Bièvre. A few meters further, there are fences, which are the ones of Campus Thalès. Take on the right and reach the river. Follow the fences and the river for a few hundred meters until finding the main entrance of the campus. If too dark on the night, you can take the long way: follow the rue de la Libération, then the rue du Général de Gaulle where the road to the campus starts at number 67 on the left of the street.Alternative plan via Versailles: faster in the rush hour, but more complex. At the airport, take the RER B line and go out at Châtelet - les Halles; connect with subway line 4 southbound to Montparnasse; follow the sign Trains Île-de-France until the SNCF railway station; take any suburban train that stops at Versailles-Chantiers; in Versailles-Chantiers, go to platform J or H and take the RER C that goes to the station Petit Jouy - les Loges which is 700 meters far from Université Thalès. If you don't lose your way and get the right connections, you can reach Université Thalès in 80-90 minutes.Alternative plan by TGV There are a few direct TGV from the combined TGV - RER B station Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 (the one at terminal 2) to Massy-Palaiseau combined TGV - RER B - RER C station. They leave at 13:37, 13:45, 15:44, 18:25, 19:12, 19:38 and 21:09. It costs 20 euros and seat reservation is mandatory. These high-speed trains are actually not so fast because they first make a long detour far around the suburb, then take a suburban railtrack. They need 45 minutes to reach Massy-Palaiseau (compare to the 65 minutes required by the RER B). In Massy-Palaiseau, take a taxi to Jouy-en-Josas (15 minutes, about 15 euros), or take the RER C line as above (buy a ticket for about 2 euros). From Orly airportThe fastest way is to take ORLYVAL which goes to the RER B station Antony. In Antony, take the RER B to go to Massy-Palaiseau (southbound to Saint-Rémy lès Chevreuse).ORLYVAL is an automatic subway line that connects Orly terminals West and South to RER B station Antony in 5 minutes. From Antony to Massy-Palaiseau it is another less than 10 minutes run. From Massy-Palaiseau, follow the directions to Jouy-en-Josas and Université Thalès as above. A ticket from Orly to Jouy-en-Josas is 8.85 euros. The full trip to Thalès is about 50 minutes. From ParisConnect either to a station on the RER B line (and follow the directions above to Jouy-en-Josas via Massy-Palaiseau) or to the Montparnasse railways station (take there a train to Versailles Chantiers where you can connect to the RER C line going to the stations Petit Jouy and Jouy-en-Josas). In both cases, a ticket is 3.30 eurosBy taxi from the airportsFrom CDG airport a taxi trip costs around 70 euros. Duration depends on time of the day. Minimum time is 45 minutes; in the rush hour (16:00 - 20:30) it can easily take more than 90 minutes. From Orly airport it costs around 35 euros and takes about 30 minutes. Cost and duration both depends on traffic. After 19:00, prices are increased by about 30%. |
